Since we started our cleaning company, steam mops have been part of our regular services for a straightforward reason: they are more efficient, faster, and less labor-intensive than traditional bucket mops for certain types of floors. Coming from a Brazilian heritage like mine, where washing kitchen and bathroom floors with soap and water is the norm, I had to readapt and find equipment to meet my needs and leave customers happy. Nowadays, we have various equipment for all areas, but the cleaning industry offers even more. Visiting the cleaning section in any supermarket or department store is exciting. However, not all machines are easy to adapt to, so we had to test several and choose the best suits us. Â
Steam floors help eliminate bacteria and persistent dirt, but some recommendations are necessary if you want your steamer to work well and last a long time:
Use only distilled water and follow the manufacturer's recommendations. We had to replace our steamers several times until we understood the importance of using only distilled water. It is pure, ensuring no marks are left on the floors, and no residue builds up in the equipment, which can cause leaks over time.
Do not use any products with the water, not even vinegar or other "harmless" substances. Anything other than distilled water will damage the steamer over time.
Suppose you like a scented home after cleaning. In that case, you have two options: use the fragrances designed for steamers, available in small discs, or add a few drops of your favorite essential oil to the pad or cotton balls and place them in the pad pocket instead of the scented discs.
After use, never leave the water tank in the equipment. You can leave it filled with water, but remove it from the steamer and only put it back in next time. This prevents water from stagnating and damaging the machine.
Turn the steamer upside down to remove excess water when you remove the reservoir. This helps extend the steamer's useful life.
